SAPI Plates

“The Small Arms Protective Insert (SAPI) is a ceramic trauma plate used by the United States Armed Forces. It was first used in the Interceptor body armor, a ballistic vest. It is now also used in the Improved Outer Tactical Vest as well as the Modular Tactical Vest, in addition to commercially available “plate carriers”. […]

Smaller UAV Defeat

For conspiracy theorists and regular civilians alike the fear of drones is on the rise.  While US citizens have been killed overseas in drone strikes without trial, it is unlikely we’ll see anything like that in the US until the matter really hits the fan.  But it is also well documented that the NSA has […]

Bunker Thoughts

From the Oxford Dictionary a bunker is defined as a reinforced underground shelter, typically for use in wartime.  From the online encyclopedia Wikipedia a bunker is a defensive military fortification designed to protect people or valued materials from falling bombs or other attacks. Bunkers are mostly below ground, compared to blockhouses which are mostly above […]

Patriots: A Novel of Surviving the Coming Collapse

I have to give thanks to my brother for another great book review.  I’ve also read this book but was introduced to it from another source.  Among prepping circles this will typically be among the top recommended books.  Personally I think the story telling is good but not superb; but the information and other literature […]

Attached is a PDF for the Ranger Handbook.  Please download it and add it to your library; it’s a great piece of literature.  It can also be bought in printed book format like the copy I have.  Enjoy. Jonathan Ranger Handbook 2011 Ranger Handbook

Kevlar

Kevlar

The picture is me in Kuwait at the range for weapons test firing prior to going into country on my last deployment. I have a delightfully funny video clip on my computer of some back woods types (seemingly drunk) strapping on a Kevlar vest to one of their number and then another firing at it […]

Military Wisdom from Sun Tzu

Military Wisdom from Sun Tzu

If you don’t have a copy of The Art of War an ancient Chinese military treatise attributed to Sun Tzu, you should.  Although it is quite literally written over 2,000 years ago, 512 BCE according to some scholars; it has never the less lasted into our day because of the timeless nature of the content.  […]

Camo Face Paint

Here are a few notes if you are new to the world of camo face paint pulled from personal experience, the Army Study Guide, and the FM 21-76: US ARMY SURVIVAL MANUAL. Here is the skinny taught to me at basic; the human face, like the human form, has distinct shapes that are recognizable and […]

A Children’s Game

A Children’s Game

I don’t mean to boast, but that kid in the photo looks like he is definitely going to grow up to be a killer someday (yep, that skinny little kid was me). There I was as a kid, dirt poor, but very creative.  I was having dirt clod wars before I really knew what the […]

Jonathan Prusse

I’m a guy who cares about his family. I want to make sure that those I love have the tools necessary to survive. In my own life I’ve seen the benefits which food storage and self-sufficiency have provided for my own immediate family during times of financial strain. Most of my own experience comes down to farm life, foraging in the woods, scouting, military service and combat deployments; to name several of life’s major building blocks. Not only do I want to share, I want to learn; so give me your insight. And while I do my best to ensure all information is correct; let me know if any corrections need to be made.
