Eating Poisonous Snakes?

Short answer, yes; cut off the head.  Long answer…yes, but read a little more. Have you ever eaten snakes?  I have, there not to bad; I’m amazed at how much lizards, snakes, and other reptiles (and some amphibians) really do taste like chicken.  I had never eating flesh from a poisonous snake so I got […]

Rifle Zero/Sighting Tips

A funny zeroing story first though. My brother was on leave and visiting, so the day after thanksgiving we ran out into the desert for me to re-sight my 270, while he sighted in his 308 with a new scope he had purchase 2 days earlier. Like zeroing an M-4 we were doing this with three […]

Standard/standing operating procedures? You may or may not be familiar with this term and acronym. “The term standard operating procedure, or SOP, is used in a variety of different contexts, including healthcare, aviation, engineering, education, industry, and military. Trek

I love anything history.  I especially love living history centers, pow wows, rendezvous’, and reenactment groups in all their various forms.  This last summer I had the opportunity to work with some of our local youth in experiencing a few of the things their pioneer predecessors went through in the mid-1800s.  About an hour away […]

House Clearing

There are times when all of us have gotten spooked sitting at home; maybe you’re alone, or maybe your family is with you.  Maybe you’re lying in bed and something goes bump downstairs that has no business going bump in the middle of the night.  What do you do?  Some dismiss it and blow it […]

Jonathan Prusse

I’m a guy who cares about his family. I want to make sure that those I love have the tools necessary to survive. In my own life I’ve seen the benefits which food storage and self-sufficiency have provided for my own immediate family during times of financial strain. Most of my own experience comes down to farm life, foraging in the woods, scouting, military service and combat deployments; to name several of life’s major building blocks. Not only do I want to share, I want to learn; so give me your insight. And while I do my best to ensure all information is correct; let me know if any corrections need to be made.
