Range Cards

Any time you set up a guard post, LPOP, or fighting position it is absolutely necessary that those who take your place know where there sectors of fire lie and what is in front of them and how far.  This stands especially important if your replacement is jumping into a fighting position in the middle […]

Manly Camping

Manly Camping

Some people are RV campers, others are cabin campers; and there is nothing wrong with either if that is where your heart lies.  Most of my youth camping was spent freezing my butt off in woefully inadequately insulated sleeping bags. Last autumn I had the opportunity to go bear hunting with by brother and a […]

Mail Order Food

Mail Order Food

My faith recommends having a one to two year food storage supply on hand; a stock that you can regularly rotate through and keep in good working order.  Growing up we did a lot of canning, almost anything you can consider aside from meats; I think my father avoided this as we had animals that […]

Dodging Bullets

Dodging Bullets

Before you go dodging bullets, let’s build a profile of the most likely shooter you might run across. While these stats are specific to a single state, they stand as a good national average when it comes to firearm types and crime.  In 2009 in the state of California 2% of crimes were committed with […]

Water Filter

Water Filter

As an FYI, the filter worked great, make sure you use a nice thick cloth as opposed to the little bit of bandanna I did in the cap.  Expect the charcoal to color the water, but do not judge it by the color.  Some of the worst water can be beautifully clear.  The water I […]

Tampons?

Tampons?

The medic approaches the commando “you’re bleeding.” Commando responds after spitting out tobacco juices “ain’t got time to bleed.” Medic replies “damn, that’s hardcore but I can see the entry and exit would; and it just happens I have just the thing for it so you can go on killing like a boss.” The medic […]

Dick Proenekke

In 2012 I became familiar with the detailing of a man’s life who had determined to retire into the remote reaches of the Alaska wilderness.  His name was Dick Proenneke and today his cabin still stands as a popular tourist site; well maintained by the forest service.  Proenneke found absolute bliss in the beauty and […]

Camo Rifle Project

The riffle is a 270 straight off the shelf which I purchased specifically for this project. The following pictures take you through the step by step process. If you are indoors as I was for environmental control please use safety equipment. The weapon disassembled with everything I need. Wipe the entire thing down with something that […]

Jonathan Prusse

I’m a guy who cares about his family. I want to make sure that those I love have the tools necessary to survive. In my own life I’ve seen the benefits which food storage and self-sufficiency have provided for my own immediate family during times of financial strain. Most of my own experience comes down to farm life, foraging in the woods, scouting, military service and combat deployments; to name several of life’s major building blocks. Not only do I want to share, I want to learn; so give me your insight. And while I do my best to ensure all information is correct; let me know if any corrections need to be made.
